Hello Again…
Greetings, breachlings.
I have written another serial novella, this one inspired by my eight-year-old son’s epic request for me to “write a book about kids who need to manage OCD to conquer monsters with magic.” (I want to be him when I grow up lol.) It’s 13,000 words and 16 chapters long. A chapter will be published once a week, starting next Thursday. As newsletter subscribers, this is FREE for you!
All of the chapters will live in the Chrome section of my Substack. This novella deals with overcoming intrusive thoughts, mental compulsions, anxiety, self-doubt, sensory overload, and insecurities that arise from spiraling minds. OCD and coping look different for everyone, so these are just some ideas that have worked for us. Since I wrote it for my kids, it has a quick pace but no debauchery! (GASP.) Though it is still intense and action-packed!

A brother-sister team must defeat seven monsters to save the universe from ruin.
Cage and Smoke manage anxiety to unlock their hidden powers of Chrome, a magic older than time. By traveling to different biomes and learning different coping strategies, they encounter each of the Fallen Seven, beasts who hunger to destroy them. But with each beast defeated, Cage questions his purpose, and Smoke aches for revenge against those who forced them onto this painful path.
If they fail, they doom time itself. If their world falls, all worlds fall. Fire would ravage the land. Lava would boil the oceans. Nothing would grow in the wake of destruction.
So they crawl from a darkness so deep they can’t see the stars to emerge burning brighter than the sun. They take the devastation life hands them and sculpt it into a beauty so brilliant that it eclipses the moon. They dissolve the shadows of their past, which they alone are triumphant in conquering, fighting them off with the strength of a hundred armies. They look into the jaws of death and pry themselves from depression’s every jagged tooth. They accomplish the impossible, time and again, without complaint, while panic rages against them.
They rise together, brother and sister. Forever and always, beyond the end.
No one can shatter the gods they’ve become.
